help?

the cat who I am currently taking care of is over 19 years old.  my friend, who's cat it is, is currently in Poland.  I do not have a phone number for him, and there is no internet around where he is.  (yes, people, there are still places in the world that are not online).

I received a call yesterday from the lady who is doing the 3 times a day medicine for Herr Kitty.  apparently, he's not eating, and is very lethargic.  today I'm going by to check on the big guy. 

I'm really worried.

if something happens, what is the best way to get a message over to my friend in poland? (I have a mailing address for him and the school he is digging at)

how much is it to send an overnight or 2 day letter to a remote part of Poland?  what company can I use?  fedex?  dhl?  Ups?  USPS?
