mabjustmab: (little monkey)
I was ~supposed~ to get some painting done for a client today.

this morning, the alarm went off. blurry eyed, barely aware of anything, I slogged to the kitchen and put on a pot of coffee. while waiting for the precious, black as night, hot as hell, sweet as sin and strong as love concoction to brew, I sat on the couch to check my email.

any time I am sitting, is an implied invitation for Ash () to sit on my lap(top). Realizing his cuddle needs were far more important than my email, I moved the laptop aside and allowed the little bugger room to get comfy.

he put one arm on one side of my neck, and the other on the other, and then he rested his head in the nook of my neck and his arm. it was like a little kitty baby hug. I could feel his little purring kitty breath coming out of his nose, tickling my neck. he was so warm, purry and cozy, I was lulled back into a state of twilight.

..................................zzzzzzzzzz

next thing I know it's 12:30pm and kitty is still asleep and I'm waking up in that confused daze of "wha? where? wha?". so, apparently, I slept through work.

I have a gig tonight, so it's not realistic for me to drive up to Laurel, paint for 2-3 hours, and drive back down here in time to shower, makeup, and make the 7(ish) call time. (which seems a little early, but hey, it's their show, and they asked me to be there by 7).

fortunately, tonight's show won't run as late as last nights. so I should (theoretically) be able to get up early tomorrow morning. and since I don't have a friday show this week, I can work as late as need be.

while I was typing this, the client called me back and was cool. did I mention that this lady to completely awesome? ya. she is. :-) and her kids are way cute and cool too.

so, I'm home today. which turns out to be a good thing. I can spend some time working on the new fire-eating comedy bit for tonight, patch some costume bits, answer some emails, get some web-work taken care of, and make a hot lunch. mmmmmm, lunch.

it would seem there are a few morals to this story. the one I'm going with is: "sometimes kittehs know best."
