yesterday, a friend and I went to the
MD. Fairie Festival and had an amazing time. we dressed as goblins and strapped wings to our backs. he used band-aids to imply that his were still healing, and I used a butterfly that was "still alive and trying to get away". we were "Trans-Fae", that is to say, "fairies born in goblin bodies"...don't oppress us!!!
99.9999% of the people there ~loved~ us, and one woman (out of all the people there) said we were scaring the kids (she didn't have a badge or a walkie talkie so we didn't let her stop us.). we were very respectful of everyone.
we explained that we were in rehab and on a 12 step program "Fairies are friends not food", "don't scare the children" and "blend in". between the parking lot and the main gate, we were stopped, no less than 5 times, by folks who wanted our picture. kids loved us.
my friend would act all scared of the kids, and play dead whenever they said he was wearing a costume. to bring him back to life I would have all the kids say "you are a big, ugly goblin!".
the kids were cute as heck! and everywhere! they all wanted to dance with us. :-)
you really need to check out the pictures from the festival!
